At approximately 4:30 in the morning, a military pilot at Bagram Airfield looked up and watched a patch of stars disappear. Something large was moving between him and the night sky.
The account appears in an FBI interview record included in a public release of U.S. government material concerning unidentified anomalous phenomena. The witness described an equilateral triangular object travelling from west to east at an estimated 150 knots, maintaining a constant speed and altitude. It displayed no lights and made no sound.
“The object blacked out the stars as it moved across the sky.”FBI interview record, witness account
The scale of the object
The witness put the triangle’s width at approximately 500 feet. At that scale, the object would have dominated the sky above him as it passed silently over the airfield.
The witness was not alone. The record says another pilot also observed the triangle. As it passed, one of the men turned to the other and asked: “Did you see that?”
A question left unanswered
The witness said he searched for an explanation in the years that followed but never found one. The object’s identity and origin remain unknown.
What crossed a military airfield silently, without lights, while obscuring a section of the sky? More than two decades later, the question is still open.
